Brant Food Centre Reopens: A Beloved Grocery Store Returns After Devastating Fire
Iconic Brantford Market Welcomes Customers Back with a Fresh Look and Expanded Offerings
Brantford, ON – March 10, 2025 –After more than a year of anticipation, Brant Food Centre officially reopened its doors. The independent grocery store, a staple in the Brantford community, was forced to close following a devastating fire on July 1, 2023. Now, with a refreshed interior, an improved layout, and the return of its popular in-house offerings, the store has welcomed customers back.
“It was a long process,” said owner Anthony DiPietro. “We initially thought we’d be back in three months, but challenges with insurance and reconstruction delayed us. It was difficult, but we were thrilled to finally reopen.”
The newly redesigned space features a more open layout, with a higher ceiling to create a spacious shopping experience. Customers have found all their favorite departments returning—enhanced and improved. The beloved salad bar is now centrally located with an expanded selection, including a new porchetta carving station. The in-house bakery once again offers fresh bread, buns, and sweets, while the extensive fresh meat counter remains a key attraction.
Many long-time employees, some with decades of service, have returned to the team, and additional full- and part-time staff were hired to support the reopening.
Brant Food Centre has been a family-owned business since 1980 when Anthony’s father, Stelio DiPietro, first opened the store. His dedication to serving the Brantford community remained strong until his passing in 2020.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of our customers,” said DiPietro. “The people of Brantford have always been good to us, and we were excited to welcome them back.”
Brant Food Centre officially reopened on Thursday, February 13.
